Seeking bloom’s next Community Manager

Bloom is a non-profit coworking space by the community, for the community. We believe in Portsmouth, in the spirit and power of entrepreneurship and in making an economic impact in the lives of others.

Bloom is actively seeking a friendly, resourceful and detail-oriented person to be the face of bloom in the role of Community Manager. You will wear many hats to help us sustain the growth of the community by creating a great member experience while executing sales and operational tasks with excellence. You will also guide us through an exciting time as we transition our community to our future home, (now under construction) a few doors down. This is your opportunity to take ownership and responsibility of a mission-driven business with the complete support and experience of a dynamic board, the Portsmouth Partnership.

Community Manger responsibilities include:

Community Management

  • Create a friendly environment to facilitate high member satisfaction
  • Espouse bloom’s values and mission
  • Plan and launch community initiatives to create connections between members of different organizations. This may include targeted member introductions, and recommending possible mentor matches
  • Seek out information about the business and personal objectives of tenant organizations and their individual members
  • Resolve issues between members quickly and in a manner that diffuses tension
  • Foster a sense of inclusivity and accessibility where fresh ideas are welcome
  • Be knowledgeable about bloom’s membership contracts and guidelines, as well as federal, state, and local laws that manage the work environment. Explain these policies to members, as necessary
  • Foster relationships with City Planning/Zoning office to assist members with business licensure
  • Oversee new member onboarding and member move outs/membership changes
  • Coordinate the seamless move of members and business licenses to bloom’s future home

 

Event and Programs Planning and Execution

  • Build a quarterly calendar of coworking events that engage all stakeholders:
  • Current members: Educational (e.g., lunch and learns) and appreciation events (e.g., Member Mingles, networking and themed parties)
  • Future members: Lead generation and sales-related events
  • Oversee the event itself, from catering to a smooth event check-in procedures, to clean-up and break-down
  • Local community: Identify outside organizers and encourage them to use our event space. Depending on the exact nature, these events should also be used to build bloom’s CRM and digital community
  • Manage the allotted budget
  • Present our community professionally
  • Plan and launch community initiatives to create connections between members of different organizations. This may include targeted member introductions, and recommending possible mentor matches
  • Collaborate with community partners, in Portsmouth and regionally to establish best practices and opportunities for the coworking community

Business Development

  • With the Partnership, be responsible for setting and achieving sales objectives, occupancy rates and pricing
  • Conduct tours for prospective members
  • Contact the local press and community leaders to generate interest in bloom
  • Engage with the local community by attending relevant events they are hosting
  • Ensure that new members will fit with bloom’s culture, dynamics and mission
  • Maintain a positive relationship with key vendors and our landlord

Facilities, Space and Equipment Management

  • Manage all building operations to the satisfaction of members
  • Maximize up-time and availability of key facilities assets like the Wi-Fi network, kitchen, printers/copiers
  • Keep members aware of facilities issues that may impact them
  • Utilize a variety of coworking software applications to manage the space and membership
  • Make recommendations to the Partnership about new features or perks that will entice members
  • Submit maintenance tickets for repairs to the facility and key equipment
  • Ensure cleaning is conducted to spec
  • Be aware of local laws and regulations as they pertain to member safety and emergency preparedness

Communications and Marketing

  • Manage corporate social media campaigns
  • Create engaging content to grow our social media presence and following across Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn
  • Create a monthly community newsletter (based on an established community template model)
  • Write a semi-monthly bloom blog post that highlights a member business or community feature story

 

Experience and Requirements

  • College graduate with a 4-year degree preferred, but not required
  • 2-4 years’ experience with increasing responsibility in either a sales or customer service role
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator
  • Highly flexible and adaptable with the ability to quickly shift priorities
  • Highly technically capable. Able to understand and work with a variety of hardware and software applications that our space depends on
  • Passion for Portsmouth and our entrepreneurial community
  • Interest in working independently
  • High-level of ethics, empathy and dependability
  • Basic graphic design skills are a plus
